The Real No Vote Campaign is a voter awareness and mobilization effort inspired by the 2014 Bahamas gaming referendum, where citizens voted “NO” to the legalization of gaming, yet the government proceeded regardless. That moment left many Bahamians feeling that their voices were ignored. This campaign seeks to restore that voice by encouraging voters to once again say “NO”—this time at the ballot box.

The campaign is focused on major personalities and issues. It also raises concerns about the overlap between private business interests and public office, and the potential for decisions in government to benefit personal or industry gain rather than the people.

At its core, the campaign carries a simple message: when the people say no, it should mean no. It calls on voters to remember the past, understand what is at stake, and make a clear, intentional decision to reject candidates whose interests may not align with the public good.

The Real No Vote Campaign is ultimately about accountability, protecting democracy, and ensuring that leadership reflects the will of the people. This time, the goal is to make sure that the “NO” vote is not only heard—but respected—by ensuring it is reflected in who is elected to serve.
